metal meets color..!

Makeba

Makeba’s art is not a style, but an attitude. Abstraction and assemblage shape a multifaceted body of work: personal, emotional questions stand alongside a clear view of social norms - always inviting the viewer to shift their perspective.

From an early age, she had a natural instinct for shaping colors, forms, and spaces. Creativity was never a pastime, but an inner drive. She also gives sculptures and objects their own voice through color.

For her, metal represents logic and composure, while color expresses a powerful emotional world and a subtle sense of attitude - two opposites that have long found harmony in her work. She works in a temple-like atmosphere, a space that is sacred to her: it requires peace, music, and contentment. “And please, an aesthetic environment,” she says. No suffering, no drama - but inspiration drawn from contentment.

Japanese and Indian influences can be found both in Makeba’s life and in her art. Her affection for Japan also led her to her mascot; a cat woodblock print from the 18th century.

You will usually find Makeba in Germany, or on Mallorca... or somewhere else in the world.
